Swedish Meatballs

This recipe came out really good. Swedish meatballs is not something that I make very often but now that I perfected this recipe, that is about to change.
My husband looked at it and turned up his nose, but he loved it and wanted more for lunch the next day.
It is the first week of February and Superbowl Sunday is this Sunday coming, so this is a great recipe for your superbowl party.
I served it with mashed potatoes, but for your party just stick a toothpick in it and enjoy.

Ingredients
Meatballs
Gravy
- 2 slices of white bread, crust removed and torn into chunks
- 1 medium sized yellow onion, grated
- 2 lbs of ground beef (you can do 1/2 beef 1/2 pork or all ground turkey)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. of all spice
- 1 tsp. of cumin
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tbsp. of oil
Gravy
- 4 tbsp. of butter
- 3 tbsp. of flour
- 2 1/2 cups of beef broth
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
Directions
- Take a regular grater and grate the onion.
- Place the torn up bread and place it in the bowl with the onion, mixing it up to absorb the onion and its juices.
- In a large bowl add your ground meat.
- Mix all of the seasonings together - salt, pepper, all spice, nutmeg and cumin and sprinkle all of it over the ground meat.
- Add the onion and bread mixture and mix thoroughly.
- With a tablespoon take scoops of meat and roll it into a ball. This should make about 30 balls depending on the size you want.
- Heat up your pan, add the oil and let it also get hot. Place in the meatballs and on medium heat brown all the way around. About 3 minutes.
- Remove meatballs from the pan and add your butter and melt. Add in the flour and stir in for about 1 minute.
- Add in 1 cup of beef broth and stir, it should thicken up quickly. Then slowly add the remaining broth.
- Add back in the meatballs and turn the heat up slightly to continue a rapid simmer. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes until it is a nice thin gravy, stirring occasionally.
- Add cream, simmer for another 2 minutes and remove from heat.
